This coffee really surprised us last year, so this season we sourced it again. Its sweetness, clarity and fruit complexity made it one of those lots we couldn’t wait to brew and share. Expect blackberry sweetness, notes of grapefruit, with vanilla finish, and that fruity acidity we love in great Kenyan coffees.
This lot comes from the Kamwangi factory in Kirinyaga, one of three operated by the New Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society. Around 985 smallholder producers deliver cherry here, each managing just a few hundred trees on small plots of land.
The coffee is fully washed in grading channels. High-grade lots like this one receive an extended soak before drying, which adds clarity and brightness to the final cup. Drying takes place over 9–13 days, with careful rotation to ensure even moisture loss.
