The Cocatrel Cooperative was founded in 1961 in Tres Pontas and has now grown to the second largest Cooperative in Brazil. There are over 6000 members who are part of the cooperative and they have 11 different buying points across the region. All the coffees are electronically tagged and recorded on delivery with a unique QR code giving full traceability on all the coffees for the growers to know exactly where their coffee is. Over 50% of the members of the cooperative grow coffee on land that is less than 10 Ha in size. At Falcon Specialty we work with a branch of the Cooperative called Cocatrel Direct Trade who work to source the best coffees and promote these for their members.

Recanto Farm was established in 1985 by Siomara's father. With the rise in exports of coffee in Brazil, a greater percentage of Fazenda Recanto was dedicated to coffee production now sitting at 58 Hectares of the 102 available. Siomara is keen to maximise any and every advantage that she can to increase yield while maintaining consistency in the quality of her coffee. With the help of her children whom she hopes to successfully pass the farm to, cementing the third generation of coffee farmers within the family. Critically Siomara is a part of the Cafefina Cocatrel Group (Cocatrels women lead Coop)

This group was formed to increase the participation of the 1154 Women associates. They have bi-monthly meetings to help improve education and knowledge, their involvement in the decision-making process and then also to increase their visibility as coffee growers. This additional education and practical training have helped increase Siomaras capabilities to improve yields and quality enabling us to produce a dedicated microlot.
