This natural lot was produced at Gedeb Chelbesa station, managed by Atara Wako. This station only produces natural coffee.

Origin: Gedeb Worka Chelbesa Station, Origin Land Coffee

 

This natural lot was processed at the Gedeb Worka Chelbesa Station, managed by Atara Wako. The cherries for this lot are grown at altitudes of 1,950 to 2,000 metres in the Gedeb Worka Chelbesa highlands, located in the broader Gedeb Woreda. This lot comes from outgrower farms in Worka Chelbesa.

Atara Wako and his family process Natural Grade 1 and 2 coffee each year, with around 324 farmers delivering cherries to their dry station. Atara has been specialising in processing and drying naturals since 2021.

This coffee is supplied to us through Origin Land Coffee, which works with Atara Wako through a vertical integration agreement.

Harvest & Post-Harvest

This lot has been processed as a natural.

The coffee, once picked, is hand or mechanically sorted. It dried on raised African beds for 13 days, turned often to ensure even drying.

The lots at this washing station are separated through harvesting time sequence. When moisture content hits 11%, these now dried cherries are sorted once again to ensure the highest quality. Processing is then completed at the dry mill and the beans are prepared for transport to Addis Ababa for final export milling.

With extensive experience in supply chain management within the Ethiopian specialty coffee sector, Origin Coffee Land prioritises transparency and fostering strong relationships with farmers and washing stations. Their operations span across various regions, including Guji, Sidama, Yirgacheffe, West Arsi, and Gedeb, collaborating closely with producers and wet mills.
